HISTORY / BACKGROUND:
This was the first carbine configuration in the Colt 600 Series built with a 14.5" barrel. With the
exception of the "Original Model 605 Carbine", this was the only other carbine built with a Fixed
Buttstock. The only differences between the Model 651 and the 652 was the presence of the Forward
Assist on the Model 651, and the lack of a Forward Assist on the Model 652. There is very little
photographic documentation of these Carbines in use in the field, and likewise there is very little
information on who was the primary end user of this Model.
